Abstract

Small-to-medium thrust powerplants are the focus of attention of major civil aero-engine manufacturers. Current trends call for the development of new technology engines for the latest aircrafts of McDonnell Douglas Corp. and Boeing Co. Intense competition to supply high-power engines to carriers with diminished long-range fleet requirements also prevails. Mergers and acquisitions are also becoming popular among aero-engine manufacturers.
