Abstract
- Apatite fission track thermochronology of specimens from the central Transantarctic Mountains (TAM) reveals the complicated history of this region. Examination of confined track length distribution suggests a Cretaceous denudation beginning at 115 Ma at Moody Numtak on the inland side of the TAM. Study of apatite age suggests that uplift and denudation are slower in the middle Cenozoic than the early Cenozoic. Episodic uplift of differential block movements are responsible for the variability of uplift along TAM.
