Abstract

Inter-Acting is a new drama therapy technique designed to help nurses and carers build relationships with people suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia. The main aims of the technique are to communicate with such patients, who are often treated just for their physical needs, and to help carers to see their patients in a different way. Inter-Acting was developed by drama therapists Alison Kelly and Paula Crimmens through their work with patients with dementia and Alzheimer's in London's elderly care units.
