Within- and between-individual variation in energy intakes by low-income Peruvian infants

Patterns associated with within-to-between individual variation in energy and nutrients that were used to examine relations between growth and energy intake in Peruvian infants revealed that energy intake changed with age and diet composition. Information regarding within- and between-individual variation may be used to calculate the precision of estimates of infants' intakes during certain age periods and to estimate the number of dietary studies required to make these measurements.
