Abstract

The researchers who contributed to the Marriage and Family Review's four volumes on single parenting explicitly or implicitly identify a central theme: the quality of life and well-being of families headed by single parents. Together the articles act as a Greek chorus, explicating and illuminating the action they describe. They thus work in concert, albeit one in need of coordination or direction. The various essays are interpreted in terms of three levels of variables: institutional, interpersonal and individual.
