Abstract

The spectroscopic properties of the Yb-dope phospho-tellurite (PTY) glasses and the absorption and emission cross sections of the new glasses are described. Comparison of the laser parameters in different glass hosts revealed that PTY glasses are potential hosts as laser and amplifier at the 1-(mu)m region under diode pumping at 970 nm.
