Abstract
- Compatible organic osmolytes decrease the increased expression of heat shock protein (HSP)-70 mRNA where the rise in expression is due to higher temperature and higher tonicity of the medium. Increase in temperature and hypertonicity alters the cellular proteins while osmolytes stabilize these cellular proteins. Two interrelated mechanisms explain the stabilization of intracellular proteins.
