Abstract
- An analysis of mutual event lightcurves of the Pluto-Charon system indicates that Pluto's radius is 1,164 plus or minus 22.9 km and Charon's radius is 621 plus or minus 20.6 km. Studies of the 1988 stellar occultation by Pluto reveals a 50 km increase in Pluto's radius, which is larger than the mutual event radius of 1,151 km. This indicates that mutual event models treat Pluto and Charon as consistently bright disks. The limb-darkening of Pluto and Charon forces the mutual event fits to underevaluate their radii.
