Abstract

The compound Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe1.95 is conventionally cast and also directionally solidified using zoning and modified Bridgman techniques. The microstructures of the directionally solidified samples are studied using optical microscope, scanning electron microscope/energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM)/EDS, and correlated with the magnetostriction measured by resistance strain gauges.
