Culture-independent analysis of indomethacin-induced alterations in the rat gastrointestinal microbiota

Abstract: An rRNA-based analysis of the impact of administration of indomethacin on the microbiota of the gastrointestinal tract and regional lymph nodes in a rat model system were conducted. It demonstrated that organisms closely related to Enterococcus faecalis were heavily enriched in the small intestine and mesenteric lymph nodes of the treated rats.
