Abstract
- Safety managers have addressed the hazards of heat stress through a combination of internal cooling devices such as cooling vests and full-body protective suits and personnel-management strategies, including regular work breaks and flexible scheduling. Developments in heat-stress technology include monitors, which measure the worker's heart rate and body temperature, and chemical-resistant suits, which allow greater movement and ventilation.
