Ucas data give hope to troubled subjects

Abstract

The introduction of top-up fees has been survived better by science degrees than many arts degrees, with universities accepting more chemistry students this year than in any year since 1999. The number of mathematics students accepted is also slightly up, while physics students acceptance are flat.
