Abstract

Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken N.V. plans to expand its television-tube joint venture in Nanjing, China, and will soon open a television factory in Suzhou. The move follows enthusiastic consumer response to the television manufacturer's wide-screened television sets. The expansion plan involves the installation of two production lines for 29-inch and 32-inch television-tubes and two for color computer monitors at its Hua Fei Color Display Systems Co. joint venture. The plan will increase capacity to 3.75 million by 1997.
