The public policy issue of homelessness: a review and synthesis of existing research

A study on the status of homelessness in the US reveals that homeless persons were not properly consulted by social service providers on their preferences among various available goods and services. In addition, the methods used by providers to meet the consumer needs of the homeless have not changed much during the late 20th century. Some recommendations that can serve as alternative options in providing more humane treatment to the homeless are presented.
