Evidence for both tyrosine kinase and G-protein-coupled pathways leading to starfish egg activation

The capacity of exogenously involved tyrosine kinase and G-protein coupled receptors to mimic processes of fertilization was analyzed to explore likely pathways for egg activation at fertilization in starfish Asterina miniata. Starfish eggs probably contain elements of a signaling pathway with phospholipase C-gamma and a G-protein and phospholipase C-beta.
