A statistical evaluation of recent full reference image quality assessment algorithms

A performance evaluation study of ten image quality assessment (QA) algorithms are presented, which involved 779 distorted images derived from 29 source images using five different distortion types. The study was diverse in terms of image content, distortion types, distortion strength and the number of human subjects ranking each image, and results and data from the study are made publicly available to facilitate future research in image quality assessment.
