Abstract

The capture and retention of Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts in Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms are observed using laboratory flow cells. The results demonstrate that biofilm architecture and surface-chemical interactions play a significant role in mediating the deposition of pathogenes from suspension into biofilms and hydrodynamic transport processes cause Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts to migrate from the bulk fluid to surface-attached microbial communities.
