Abstract

A synthesis of a series of mononuclear square-based pyramidal complexes of iron having two 1,2-diaryl-ethylene-1,2-dithiolate ligands in various oxidation levels is conducted. This showed that redox noninnocent ligands exist in at least two oxidation levels, namely, the diamagnetic closed-shell dianionic form and paramagnetic open-shell monoanionic form.
