Abstract

General anesthetics at clinical concentration affects a few central nervous system targets such as the postsynaptic ligand-gated ion channels, and its influence is felt in the cellular and molecular levels. Voltage-gated ion channels exhibit greater resistance to clinical concentrations. Anesthetic activities vary from neuron to neuron at the cellular level while at the molecular level, anesthetics link to the proteins directly.
