Amino acid sequence of human pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A derived from cloned cDNA

Partial protein sequencing and cloned cDNA sequencing of human pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) reveals that PAPP-A is formed as a precursor with circulating PAPP-A/proform of eosinophil major basic protein (proMBP) constituting the C-terminal region. PAPP-A is unrelated to the alpha-macroglobulins and is possibly involved in molecular recognition of placental growth and function.
