Abstract

An approach for accurate Doppler angle estimation for vector flow measurements is introduced, in which two ultrasound beams with known relative orientation are directed towards the same vessel, with one beam committed to perform a Doppler measurement and the other reference beam having the specific task of detecting the beam-flow angle. Validation of the method reveals that the beam-flow angle can be estimated with high accuracy and repeatable velocity magnitude measurements are possible.
