Abstract

The calicheamicin gamma1 and glutathione reaction in the presence of double-stranded DNA yields four products generated by S-S bond exchange. The calicheamicin gamma1 bisulfide group and glutathione thiol function react to give the S-S bond product. There is no evidence of DNA catalysis of thiol function in water.
