1994 NRF gold medal award winner

Kmart Corp Chmn and CEO Joseph E. Antonini's efforts to improve retail store chain's image and merchandising has earned him the Gold Medal Award from the National Retailer's Foundation. Antonini assumed the leadership in 1987, and began a campaign to promote the retail chain as a manufacturer and distributor of fashionable clothing. Celebrities such as actress Jaclyn Smith were asked to produce a clothing line with a more stylish appeal. Kmart has also benefited from a customer feedback system through an 800 phone number.
