Medical board fund transfer tax ruled double tax on doctors

A California Superior Court judge has ruled that the redirection of funds generated from physician licensing to meet general-government needs amounts to double taxation of doctors and is therefore illegal. The decision, in a case brought by the California Medical Assn, could result in lower licensing fees and in more adequate funding for the state's medical board.
