Abstract

The passively Q-switched laser oscillation from an unprocessed Nd:La[B.sub.3][O.sub.6] cleavage microchip with a [Cr.sup.4+]:YAG saturable absorber in an end-pumped plano-plano resonator is described. The polarization and spectral properties of the laser radiation are measured and the results have shown that the unprocessed Nd:LaBO cleavage microchip is a good gain medium for the passively Q-switched microchip lasers.
