Abstract

Cytochrome c552 ([PHc.sub.552] is selected from a moderate thermophilic bacterium, Hydrogenophilus thermoluteolus, that grows at 52 degree centigrade to carry out a comprehensive study on the structure and stability relationship. A small number of amino acid residues determine the overall molecular stability by means of additivity of the effects of their substitutions which are accommodated by these bacteria to survive in the wide range thermal conditions.
