Abstract

Union commander George Brinton McClellan was a brilliant military man who reacted appropriately to every military threat that he faced. But his ego and inflexibility in politics as on the battlefield led to a humiliating defeat in the presidential election against Abraham Lincoln in 1864, since he could not cope up with political games.
