Abstract

The ultraviolet (UV) absorption spectrum of the different isomers of acetylacetone isolated in a nitrogen matrix is characterized using the standard UV absorption spectroscopy, UV-induced reactivity, infrared spectroscopy and vibrational frequency calculations. The theoretical and experimental results agree with regard to the identification of two non-chelated isomers of acetylacetone (CTC and CTT), which absorb to the red compared to the remaining five non-chelated isomers.
