Abstract

Assessment of quality in health care delivery plays an increasingly prominent role in contemporary medical practice and selected care processes are increasingly being used to measure hospital quality, however, data regarding the association between hospital process performance and outcomes are limited. Government agencies, professional societies, accreditation organizations, and major insurers all have published sets of performance indicators.
