Abstract

Leading executives of the gas industry agree that passage of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Order 636 will significantly change the way they purchase fuel. Order 636 puts the responsibility for managing the timing of shipments, anticipating shortages and supplier relations firmly on the gas industry. Such administrative matters were previously managed by interstate pipelines. Consequently, many gas companies are operating on short-term contracts until they find reliable suppliers who are willing to enter longer-term contracts.<br />RONALD L.
