Abstract

The way in which the processes of globalization have affected the spread of infectious disease like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is being investigated within the context of the global cities network. It is found that the relationship of global city formation and spread of infectious disease is central to understanding the structure of globalized network and this relationship poses new issues for public health and epidemiological efforts at disease containment and tracking.
