Abstract

A 100-kilodalton-toxin gene is absent in the fine new high-toxicity mosquitocidal strains of Bacillus sphaericus that were isolated in Singapore. Each of them is part of phage group 8, and has binary toxin genes positioned on the chromosome. Only a pair of feebly toxic strains in phage group 8 have been already established, and every unknown high-toxicity strain has 100-kilodalton toxin and binary toxin genes.
