Abstract

Vitamin E secretion is induced by a beta-adrenergic stimulus in situ and in vitro by type II pneumocytes. It was proved that alveolar surfactant have lipophilic antioxidants. A study was conducted to examine the hypothesis that, in the lung, the lipophilic antioxidants are secreted simultaneously with the surfactant to inhibit the peroxidation of surfactant constituents.
