Sequence requirements for myosin gene expression and regulation in Caenorhabditis elegans

DNA transformation methods were used to study the signals inducing expression of myosin in Caenorhabditis elegans. These studies revealed two varieties of elements, one of which are the general signals that facilitate high levels of expression of myosin without altering tissue specificity and the other is a set of promoter and enhancer elements which ostensibly function at the transcriptional level to induce alterations in tissue specificity of the genes.
