Parallel genome analysis by two-dimensional DNA typing

A restriction enzyme digest of genomic DNA can be resolved according to size and base-pair sequence by using two-dimensional (2-D) DNA typing, and is studied later by repeat probe hybridization to elucidate sequence variants at multiple genomic sites in parallel. The first and second dimensions are run individually. The system is partially atuomated, and facilitates the cost-effective, large-scale comparative study of intricate genomes.
