Abstract
- The mediation of endogenous fat and glucose metabolism with respect to exercise intensity and duration was examined by employing stable isotope tracers and indirect calorimetry. The study was conducted on five trained subjects under exercise conditions of 25, 65, and 85% of maximal oxygen intake. Plasma glucose consumption, muscle glycogen consumption and muscle glycogen oxidation were augmented in correlation to exercise intensities. It was concluded that the regulation of lipid metabolisms is more complex than carbohydrate metabolism regulation.
