Abstract

Ruthenium hydride, which is a classical, high-oxidation-state compound, is chemically oxidated. A temporary cation radical is derived from the compound when it is subjected to one-electron oxidation. Molecular hydrogen is freed gradually after deprotonation. The voltametric features of the compound are influenced by the derived molecular hydrogen. Metal hydrides at the Pt electrode are electrochemically examined.
