Abstract
- The UK government presided over a huge expansion in higher education student numbers in the 1990's. As the numbers rose so did the cost, and all three political parties began to question the availability of free higher education. The Liberal Democrats would like to see more part-time and modular courses, and credit for prior learning. The Conservative Party are committed to the three-year degree and to expansion at craft, rather than higher, level. The Labour Party see the expansion of nursery and further, rather than higher, education as their priority.
