Abstract

Each year more than four million people in the country require blood and in that African Americans suffer in higher rates than the general population from sickle cell anemia, some cancers and other ailments that often require transfusions. Most people between ages 17 and 75 can donate blood upto to six times a year and this help save the lives of as many as five different people.
