Abstract

A three-dimensional ordering in MnCu(opba)(DMSO)3, MnCu(opba).0.7DMSO and (nBu4)2Mn2(Cu(opba))3 is controlled by the exchange interaction and not by the dipolar effect. The compounds were synthesized with opba or O-phenylenebis(oxamato). The structures of the complexes have distinct MnII-CuII zigzag chains. The copper atom is in square pyramidal environment, and the manganese atom is in an octahedral environment having a cis coordination.
