Abstract

Two xyloglucan-specific endo-beta-1,4-glucanases (xyloglucanases [XEGs]), XEG5 and XEG74, are isolated from the gram-positive bacterium Paenibacillus species strain KM21 and the genes encoding these XEGs are cloned and sequenced. The analysis using various oligosaccharide structures has shown that unique structures of xyloglucan oligosaccharides can be prepared with XEG74.
