Abstract

IBM plans to enter the asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) technology market with a series of products which will lead to ATM networks. High-performance routing (HPR), a new version of APPN, will provide congestion control. APPN Dependent LU Server/Dependent LU Requester (DLUS/DLUR) functionality will let 3270-based SNA sessions and legacy applications be routed on an HPR backbone. AnyNet Gateways will allow non-SNA and LAN-oriented traffic to be routed on an HPR backbone.
