Abstract
- Gas phase photoinduced ion-molecule reactions involving organometallic ions are studied. Fourier transform mass spectrometry (FTMS) is employed in analyzing the vibrationally excited ground-state intermediates created by multiphoton adsorption. The results are then compared with those obtained using the sustained off-resonance irradiation technique. It is found that the FTMS method permits absorption information on gas-phase ions to be obtained at longer wavelengths than is possible by single-photon photodissociation .
