Abstract
- The photoreaction of DBr with C2H4 on Pt(111) was reported. Coadsorbed DBr and C2H4 are photoactive, producing adsorbed ethane and bromoethane which desorb subsequent temperature-programmed desorption. The formation of bromoethane involves a concerted reaction involving surface-aligned and oriented reactant pairs. When C2H4 and DBr are both in the first layer, the pi-bonded form of ethylene reacts more readily than the di-sigma-bonded form.
