Inner-city, poor children of divorce: negative divorce-related events, problematic beliefs and adjustment problems

The fear of abandonment is positively related to child or parent reports of adjustment problems, and maternal blame beliefs were mildly related to child-adjustment reported by parents. These findings were made after a study that investigated the effects of negative divorce occurrences. Four kinds of divorce theories about the problems of coping with divorce faced by 35 inner city deprived children were used.
