Abstract

The structure and electronic properties of three compounds containing the (S4Cd10 SPh 16)4- cluster were determined using solid-state Cd nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and chemical shift anisotropy. The results showed that the occurrence of isomerism led to observable distortions and changes in the pseudotetrahedral Cd coordination. Furthermore, chemical shift anisotropy was successfully used in characterizing the molecular orientation and local structure of the compounds.
