Lieberman keeps moderation as his Democratic byword

Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut has shunned conventional ideological roles and hopes to take the middle ground all the way to the White House after adopting a version of Bill Clinton's 'New Democratic' presidential campaign. Lieberman's quiet and contemplative public persona have contributed as much to his reputation as a centrist as his record, which was very much in evidence during the contested 2000 presidential election.
