Abstract
- The construction of a cellulose-degrading, defined mixed culture consisting of five bacterial strains that are dominant bacteria in the original microflora is described. The characteristics of each of the members in the pure cultures are investigated and the roles and relationships among the members of the community in situ are evaluated based on these results.
