Nimbus-7 total ozone observations of Western North Pacific tropical cyclones

The total ozone distribution data for North Pacific tropical cyclones obtained by the Nimbus-7 Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer from 1979 to 1982 is examined. Important meteorological parameters, such as the relation between cyclone intensity and total ozone distribution, are determined using the available data. Results show that ozone-rich air contributes to the increased intensity of tropical cyclones.
