Impediments to timely delivery of new products at an industrial products firm

The technological and managerial characteristics that impede the prompt delivery of new products in an industrial products firm are discussed. Manager selection, vendor monitoring, detailed attention to physical engineering design and a well-designed sign-off procedure are seen to contribute more to project delays than other internal problems such as resource bottlenecks and miscommunications.
